Yves Saint Laurent Commercial Song 2016 – Music and singer details for the new MON PARIS YouTube and TV advert.
Song Title: Love Is Blindness (U2/Jack White cover).
Artist/Singer: Lee-la Baum of The Damn Truth.
YSL’s new commercial for their Mon Paris fragrance features a cover version of one of my all-time favourite songs – U2’s ‘Love Is Blindness’.
Admittedly sounding more similar in style to Jack White’s 2011 cover than U2’s 1991 original, you could call this latest version a cover of a cover.
There’s been some debate online since the commercials release as to who is actually singing on the ads soundtrack, and when I first heard it I thought this was the one by Nashville-based pop-rock duo Stereosparks (video at the bottom of this page).
But despite sounding very similar, Stereosparks’ was noticeably not the same recording. Then after further research I discovered a post on the official YSL Beauty Instagram account stating the music was Love is Blindness interpreted by Lee-la Baum. She’s the lead vocalist of Montreal rock & roll band The Damn Truth.
Love is Blindness featured on what is arguably one of the greatest music albums ever released – U2’s ‘Achtung Baby’. Due to having never been brought out as a single and being somewhat overshadowed by ‘The Fly’, ‘Even Better Than the Real Thing’, ‘Mysterious Ways’ and the band’s masterpiece ‘One’, Love is Blindness remains something of a hidden gem, little known by non-U2 fans.
The above MON PARIS Yves Saint Laurent video was posted to the YSL Beauty YouTube channel on the 14th of June, 2016.
