Virgin Media Advert – ‘Inspired’ This Girl Is On Fire

Virgin Media Advert Music 2015 – Video, song and singer details for the ‘Are you ready to be moved?’ October TV commercial.

Song Title: Girl on Fire.

Artist/Singer: Fleur East.

Download From: iTunes and Amazon.

Without Usain Bolt, a sofa bear or any animated animals in sight, this new Virgin Media Vivid ad focuses on the ability of the internet to inspire.

The advert shows a young girl called Grace (not sure on the actresses name) watching a YouTube video of her favourite football player Steph Houghton. Her mum then plays a clip of her own childhood sporting hero Nadia Comaneci, showing the Romanian gymnast’s perfect 10 performance.

With Grace clearly impressed by what she sees, her mother then searches Google for ‘women who rock’. This leads to the pair learning about such inspirational women as British suffragette Emmeline Pankhurst, performer and activist Paloma Faith, and the legendary American jazz singer Billie holiday.

The ad concludes with its main message of ‘When you have a better internet connection, you get more out of it’. The video was added to Virgin Media’s YouTube channel on the 2nd of October, 2015.

Putting the old ‘white coat’ on for a moment, this advert promotes Virgin Media Vivid’s ultra-fast next generation optical fibre broadband service, which offers speeds of up to 200Mbps.

The song featured in the ad is a cover version of the Alicia Keys hit ‘Girl on Fire’, performed by former X Factor contestant Fleur East. The track is due to be released for download on the 4th of December, 2015, as part of the singers deluxe debut album ‘Love, Sax and Flashbacks’.

In all honesty, when I first saw the advert I simply assumed it was Alicia Keys singing. Could it be that Fleur didn’t ‘make it her own?’ I’ll have to hear the full length, non voice-over version before I can properly decide on that one.

Below you can watch the original tracks official music video, which has so far received a mere 160 million views:
