This Girl Can Advert Song – ‘Phenomenal Women’ Sport England Ad Campaign

Sport England Advert Song – Full video and soundtrack details for the new 2017 ‘This Girl Can – Phenomenal Women’ ad campaign.

Sport England’s new National Lottery funded campaign looks to inspire women of all ages and from all backgrounds, into taking up sports and becoming more active.

The soundtrack to this advert features sections of the poem ‘Phenomenal Woman’, being read over an uptempo song with backing vocals.

Featuring such lyrics as ‘I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size. But when I start to tell them, they think I’m telling lies.’ and ‘I’m a woman. Phenomenally.’, Phenomenal Woman was written in 1978 by the American poet and civil rights activist Maya Angelou.

This particular piece of work forms part of Maya’s third volume of poetry ‘And Still I Rise’.

The composition we hear in this ad hasn’t been released for download as a single, though you can listen to the full 90-second version in the video above, which was posted to the This Girl Can YouTube channel on the 24th of February, 2017.
