Sofaworks Sofology Advert Song 2016 – ‘Tell Me Why’

Sofaworks Advert Music 2016 – Band and song details for the latest Sofology TV ad, starring Neal the Sofaworks sloth.

Song Title: Tell Me Why.

Artist/DJs: Supermode.

Available For Download From: Amazon and iTunes.

Now many viewers will probably recognise the music in this advert as ‘Smalltown Boy’ by Bronski Beat, but it’s actually a little more complicated than that.

Titled ‘Tell Me Why’ and produced by Swedish DJs Supermode, the song is in fact a reworked combination of two Bronski Beat singles. The tune does indeed come from ‘Smalltown Boy’, but the lyrics are from ‘Why?’ Both tracks were originally taken from the 1984 album ‘The Age of Consent’ and featured vocals from Jimmy Somerville.

Although ‘Tell Me Why’ includes the lyrics from ‘Why?’, it doesn’t actually use Somerville’s original vocals. Instead, British singer Hal Ritson was brought in to record a fresh set. Supermode’s finished piece was released in 2006 and reached number 13 in the UK charts.

Well known to fans of Channel 4’s Gogglebox, this new commercial for Sofology stars Sofaworks mascot/brand ambassador Neal the Sloth. The ad features a voice-over from co-creator and co-star of The Royle Family, Craig Cash.

Promoting a range of sofas priced at £599 or less, the above advert was added to the Sofology UK YouTube channel on the 23rd of December, 2015.
