This years John Lewis Christmas advert features a young boy named Joe and a noisy monster called Moz, who lives under the bed. After keeping Joe up regularly though the night, playing games and having fun, Moz’s friendship leads to Joe struggling to stay awake through the day.

Joe then receives a present for Christmas that helps him get to sleep, and in the process makes Moz The Monster disappear, which kinda feels like a bitter sweet ending.

English rock band Elbow, with lead singer Guy Garvey on vocals, provide the music to the short film with their new cover of the Beatles 1969 song ‘Golden Slumbers’.

Written by Paul McCartney, Golden Slumbers features the lyrics ‘Once, there was a way to get back home. Sleep, pretty darling, do not cry, and I will sing a lullaby’.

The above full length 2:10 version of this ‘For gifts that brighten their world’ #MozTheMonster Christmas commercial was released on the 9th of November, 2017 and posted to the John Lewis YouTube channel.
