Who plays the ballerina dancer?

This new summer John Lewis advert was directed by Dougal Wilson and stars eight-year-old Bunny May as the young ballerina dancing around her living room. Almost causing significant damage to her homes contents along the way, this is where the companies Premier Home Insurance link comes in. Lasting over a minute and a half, the full length video was uploaded to John Lewis’s YouTube channel on Friday the 21st of August, 2015.

Here’s a special behind the scenes video from John Lewis, giving us an inside look at how the TV ad was made:

With lyrics written by Bernie Taupin, Tiny Dancer comes from Elton’s 1971 album ‘Madman Across the Water’. With an uncharacteristically long running time of over six minutes (probably why you don’t hear it on the radio too often), the track was released as a single the following year.

The song also featured on the soundtrack to the 2000 Kate Hudson film, Almost Famous.

Here’s a look at a live performance of Elton John’s Tiny Dancer, filmed in 1979:

Lyrics from the song featured in the commercial start off with: ‘Blue Jean baby, L.A. lady, seamstress for the band. Pretty eyed, pirate smile, you’ll marry a music man. Ballerina, you must have seen her dancing in the sand.’ The ad then skips ahead in the song to: ‘Only you, and you can hear me. When I say softly, slowly. Hold me closer tiny dancer. Count the headlights on the highway. Lay me down in sheets of linen, you had a busy day today.’
