The song choice for Jacob’s latest crazy karaoke ad is a comical cover of ‘Don’t Leave Me This Way’.

Although this track was originally recorded in 1975 by the American R&B/Soul group Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes and covered a year later by solo vocalist Thelma Houston, the version we hear performed in this commercial appears to use the music from The Communards more recent up-tempo cover.

Released in 1986, The Communards single featured vocals from Jimmy Somerville and guest singer Sarah Jane Morris. The track reached number 1 on the UK singles chart, where it stayed for four weeks.

Following on from the brands recent Cream CrackersMini Cheddars and Cracker Crisps adverts, this latest creation hands the mic over to some Jacobs Flatbreads.

The video, which was added to Jacob’s YouTube page on the 31st of May, 2016, shows the old cliche formula of a redheaded lady duetting with a vocally challenged packet of salt & pepper Flatbreads.
