The original and chaotic sounding song used in this latest IKEA commercial is called ‘Rolls Bayce’. The track was created by US experimental rock band Battles, and then remixed by the Scottish DJ/record producer Hudson Mohawke, real name Ross Birchard.
Released in April of 2012, Rolls Bayce is taken from Battles ‘Dross Glop’ EP.
When you begin watching this advert for the first time, you’d have a hard time working out it’s actually for a furniture retailer.
The extremely colourful and visually impressive film starts with a bat, an eagle and a clumsy robot strolling through a mystical land. As the bat and eagle take to the skies, their mechanical mate is quickly made to feel left out.
The winged pair try to put this right by teaching their friend to fly – A lesson which almost goes disastrously wrong. Saved at the last second by the rocket booster feet he didn’t realise he even had, the robot and his companions then soar to safety.
So what’s all this got to do with selling furniture? Well as we see at the end of the ad, this story is in fact the product of a farther and his children’s imaginations. The commercial is designed to promote IKEA’s new range of LATTJO costumes, toys, games and musical instruments.
The 60-second ‘Wonderful Everyday’ video was added to IKEA UK’s official YouTube channel on the 6th of November, 2015 and is currently airing during TV ad breaks.
