Bovril Advert Song – Bovril Biker ‘The Wonder of You’

Bovril Advert Music – Video, song and singer details for the re-released ‘Merry Christmas’ version of the classic Bovril Biker TV ad.

Song Title: The Wonder of You.

Artist/Singer: Elvis Presley.

Available To Download From: Amazon and iTunes.

For those of you out there old enough to remember the Bovril Biker advert first time around, you’ll likely already know all about the commercials soundtrack.

For you younger viewers out there, the ad features the distinctive vocals (and yes, that’s an understatement) of the late, great American singer Elvis Presley. The song is The King’s 1970 recording of ‘The Wonder of You’, which was written in 1959 by musician Baker Knight.

An Elvis album, which you may have seen advertised on TV recently, is ‘If I Can Dream: Elvis Presley With The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’ and is currently proving very popular.

Having first been broadcast way back in 1992, the ‘Bovril Biker’ advert shows a motorcyclist having a very bad day. First he makes an elderly lady drop her shopping when he starts his bike, then gets assaulted as he tries to pick them back up. The guys wet clothes then cause a receptionists phone to explode, before finally having a car door open in front of him at the last second – Cue comical facial expressions. At the end of the day though, all this man’s troubles are forgotten with a nice hot cup of Bovril.

Apart from a slight improvement in picture quality, you’ll notice Bovril have done little to disguise the age of the film. The combination of the non-widescreen aspect ratio and the characters retro fashion styles perhaps even serve to strengthen the campaigns message, taking us back to simpler times.

Finishing with the words ‘Merry Christmas from Bovril’ and ‘Keeping Britain’s chin up since 1886’, the above video was added to Bovril’s official YouTube channel on the 30th of November, 2015.
